Purposely Reuse Your JNRG Jars

When your JNRG candle is finished burning, the good vibes don’t end there. I encourage you to purposely recycle your jars. Of course you can use your jars for anything that you choose, but since they are a focal point in your intention setting journey, I always suggest using the jars to write down your intentions after use. I usually place a crystal (different from the one that was used in the candle; see below for crystal suggestions) in the jar. Writing down intentions and affirmations and placing them in the jar allow you to continue your intended practice and proves the healing process is an ongoing journey, not a destination. If you’re interested in continuing your jar’s journey there are a few methods to clean them out that will be great for reuse!
Where to begin: Once your candle is approximately 75% burned through, your crystal will be prominently visible. At this point, I typically remove it from the candle and place it in the metal cover beside the candle. I’ll continue to burn my candle until the metal wick base is visible. Using a set of metal tweezers, I’ll remove the wicks if possible. If they are secured
- Freezer Method Cold causes wax to harden and shrink, making it easier to remove. Use a butter knife, if your wax is soft, to break up any large chunks of wax that remain in the container. Place the candle in the freezer for several hours or until it is frozen. The wax should pop right out of the container. Scrape off any residue and then clean the container with soap and water. Be sure not to pour any wax down the sink!
- Oven Method Scrape out as much wax as you can beforehand and pop out the remainder of your wicks. The bottom of the wick has metal and must be removed when using any method with heat. Heat the oven to 180 degrees and line a rimmed baking pan with two layers of parchment paper. Place the candles upside down on the pan and set the pan in the oven. The wax will melt in about 10-15 minutes. Remove the pan and place on a heat-safe surface. Hold the container using a proper pot holder and clear the residue with a paper towel. Let the container cool and then clean with soap and water. Again, be sure not to pour any wax down the sink!
- Double Boiler Method Place the candle inside of a pot or large metal bowl on a heat-safe surface. Pour boiling water into the pot around the candle, making sure that the water does not get into the candle jar. Let the jar sit in the hot water until the wax has softened. Hold the jar in one hand and use a butter knife to loosen the wax. Remove the container from the water, pop out the wax, and then wash with soap and water. Again, be sure not to pour any wax down the sink!
It’s important that when we think about intention setting, we acknowledge that this is a lifestyle. We don’t set an intention, manifest our desire and call it quits. Similarly throwing away your jar would be a huge miss when it comes to your personal journey. Take the high vibrations you manifested with the candle and carry them through with an intention jar!
Personal note: I usually keep an green aventurine at the base of my intention jars. They help to amplify and support forward motion; it is why they are infused in our Progress candles.
